RootEX instruments: making root fragment removal safe and simple
RootEX instruments is a new and patented system that makes it possible to remove fragments safely, quickly, and without any surgical intervention. RootEX instruments can be used by general practitioners, implantologists and dental surgeons.
How they are used
There are two ways to use the new RootEX. One uses a single instrument, and this is for easy clinical cases. The second uses a two-step, two instrument system, and is for more complicated clinical cases.
For simple clinical cases: Only a single instrument is required. The instrument has retentive barbs already laser-milled onto the drill so that the root fragment can be pulled directly after drilling using a slow speed hand-piece.
For more complicated clinical cases: The root fragment is strongly stuck in the bone, and requires two steps to remove it. The RootEX drill is used to perforate the root fragment at the lowest possible speed. The corresponding plug is then pressed into a pre-drilled hole using RootEX forceps in order to remove the fragment.
Why is RootEX safer than other systems?
Other systems might use dental root elevators, which can risk damaging the bone, or cause lateral dislocation, which is trauma to the periodontium with non-axial displacement of the tooth. Other systems might also involve using a surgical bar, which also risks damage to the bone, and bone perforation.
Other benefits of RootEX
The RootEX Root Tip Extractor is made out of medical steel, and when handled correctly, snapping of the drill can be ruled out.
The Tip Extractor allows for faster and therefore more economic extraction, and regardless of which system is selected, a maximum of two steps is required for successful extraction of the tooth fragment.
Due to this minimally invasive procedure, the patient can experience considerably less pain as well as better wound healing then with customary procedures.
Additionally, due to its uncomplicated functionality, the RootEX Root Tip Extractor is universally applicable, and also has uses in veterinary medicine.
